Poetry at Sangam

Fringe by Navkirat Sodhi

A tongue above the one I have
Began to grow last night
Like a tendril it gently shot
Sprouting long till I forgot
Which one belonged to me
Struggling it began to permeate
My sleep that was cut short
As it began to make its speech
How now o symmetric folly
You assumed I wouldn’t come in pairs
The twin I sent before me
Was to make you impaired with speech
These years of words your cacophony
Were not enough for you to see
The din I lay within
I come now to claim
My other half
Now you must witness
The silence
Of the twins
