Poetry at Sangam

52 by Mohan Gehani

I, an obstinate child…
Whenever a hawker entered the street
I would pester my mother.
At last
She would open a corner of her ‘dupatta’
Untie the knot and give me a coin
My  heart would soar to the sky.
This morning,
The sky has  untied the knot of its ‘dupatta’
And given a gift of gentle wind.
