Poetry at Sangam




Born 1948 Sarguja, Central Provinces. Schooled in Calcutta, Mussoorie. B.A. (Hons.) English Literature, Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi. Three years in Berkeley, California, with painting as a major at the California College of Arts; M.A. (Fine) in Art History at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. Assistant Editor, Lalit Kala Akademi. Conducted classes in Art History at the Film and Television Training Institute, Pune; and the same at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda. Has written extensively on Modern Indian Art, and fiction in short stories. Her poems have been published since her student days and she also writes and illustrates for children. Her art work is in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, Air India, the Space Research Organization, ITC New Delhi and in private collections in India, Europe and the United States. She continues to draw and paint and hold exhibitions of her work. She has assisted in translations of the writing of Gulam Mohammed Sheikh both from prose and poetry from the Gujarati after it has been transcribed into Hindi.
